Theme Art 2012

Post by Gambit »

Now that this year is coming to an end, it's time to open up the suggestion list again. This past year I stuck with singular characters rather then an overall theme. I hoped that by doing a singular character we'd get more artist to contribute but I think it was pretty much the same as a regular scenario. So, 2012 brings back an idea rather then a singular focus.

Let's get those ideas flowing and hope that this year we can get more artist out to give their interpretation on things.

Just tossing ideas around but how about DC Comics girls but in their new "52" looks? That or a Disney themed month.

I'm throwing some ideas a few based on the Gainax Studio month

Bones Month = http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bones_%28studio%29" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Tatsunoko Productions = http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tatsunoko_Production" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (WE NEED POLY ESTER ART XD)
Sweet Polly Purebred - one of the many furries that this board has come to love
Mahou Shoujo Month. If you don't know what a mahou shoujo is... THEN YOU DON'T DESERVE TO BE CALLED OTAKU!! Either real ones from different animes or OCs dressed up as their alter-egos/cosplay
My Little Pony: Friendship is Bondage, I KNOW I'M NOT THE ONLY BRONY HERE! SHOW THESE GIRLS THE WAYS OF THE ROPES especially since Lauren Faust does give us the hints XD
Pirates vs Ninjas! 'Nough said...
Final Fantasy

and finally my all time favorite... YURI BONDAGE XD

I second cresen34's Fable girls! Wendy Red Riding Hood. Good stuff in this category that would be real fun to see people give a take on it.

P.O.W. Month - Hot soldier girls bound up in enemy hands
Law and Disorder - Cop babes in Distress
Disney Princesses - I know we did this already but screw it. I don't think it ever gets old.

Agreed wholeheartedly, even if I do find Francine more attractive. :3

Somehow, I think that the problem with participation isn't with the subject matter. I think that with time and money being tight these days, less and less of our artists are all that interested in doing art jam stuff when there's a general lack of interest or feedback aside from the usual "Cool." responses.

Perhaps it's time to try something new? Community projects or contests seem to have more interested folk.

Well, I'm not an artist, but i could commit to doing a fan fic for each theme, if I can get the source material (and finish off Three Ages first).

As for suggestions, I second Doctor Mrs The Monarch, or indeed the whole Venture Brothers crowd, as well as Fables, especially if you use the Bill willignham/Mark Buckingham series.

As for other ideas....

Sensational Seventies Sweeties - Teen Angels, Josie and the Pussycats, etc, etc, etc...
UK Month - drawings based on characters from British televison or cartoons.
It's the quiet, unobvious ones that you have to watch.

I'm not ashamed to second this one, though probably will stick with humanized versions.
