Anime Sightings Old and New - Urusei Yatsura

I came across a scene that I don't think has been mentioned before, but I can't be sure because there's a discrepancy in the numbering of UY episodes. Counting each half-hour of the first season as one episode rather than two, in episode #124 starting around 20:30 Lum is roped up in typical anime fashion along with Menou, Jariten, and Cherry.

Very interesting. I´ve always thought that Urusei Yatsura had all its scenes checked, but apparently not. It could be useful to go through it again.

Here's another scene I don't recall having been reported. In episode #160, around 13:45, Ryuunosuke and Benten are chained back-to-back backstage of a school play. Shortly afterwards the play's narrator says, according to the subtitles, "Act 2, Bride in Bondage." I literally couldn't believe my eyes - I had to push the slider bar back to confirm I saw what I thought I saw. Around 16:45 the two are onstage prone looking like they're still restrained, but when they're on their feet the chains reappear. And they stay chained for a relatively long time.

And one last scene I don't believe has been previously mentioned. In episode #192 around 18:25, Lum is tied up in the usual fashion of arms behind and plenty of rope around the torso. (As I mentioned above there are two different ways that Urusei Yatsura episodes are numbered. If I've correctly counted on my fingers and toes, this is the 4th episode from the end.)

Ah, UY, an old timeless classic. Here in Italy it was aired in the 80s with a really good dub and Lum became the erotic dream of many teenagers at the time. The Lum clone DiD scene is one of my favourites, but man, I really wish Sakura got the treatment, especially in that purple low-cut dress she often wore in the first episodes.

I agree, I remember a really old spanish site called galeon or G8 an old board member made. They posted DID screen shots and had a LOT of scenes from Urusei Yatsura. Didnt list the episode numbers though for all of them but I always wanted to go through and see what else might be in there. a bunch he shared didnt have gags and were unshared scenes like one of her tied to a tree in her school outfit.

Nah, considering the current cultural climate a remake would most probably be awful.

For completism only, but in chapter 5 of volume 1 there's a very brief (one frame) shot of Lum getting bound and cleave gagged, no full-body shot. I actually remember finding a version with a full-body shot of her, but either it's a false memory or I just can't find it right now.



Unfortunately, the remake, like the original anime, seems to be determined to avoid any kind of DiD

p.s. in response to my comment from 1.5 years ago... the 2022 remake is really good, and it's not even as censored as many say. Ataru is still a pervert, the mature references are still there and skimpy costumes are everywhere. They just can't show nipples like they did in the 80s anime, because explicit nudity is nowadays contained to uncensored home-video/streaming versions of adult productions, but still... It must also be said that the style of the original was much cruder and cartoony compared to the new version, if they showed nipples it would most probably cross "softcore porn" territory.
