James Bond Jr.

Post by somedude37 »

Well I had forgotten all about this cartoon for many years, but after finding a torrent for the complete series in the German version (http://thepiratebay.se/torrent/7000463/James_Bond_JR_" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;[Eng_De]), I decided it would be a good one to check. I'd never been able to see the cartoon as a kid though, so I had no idea what it would actually produce. Well, after checking all the episodes, I'm afraid it's quite a mixed bag, depending on what you're looking for. I'll start with the bad first so I end on a positive note.

I'm sad to say that for those like me who were hoping there might be several nice full treatment scenes in this one, well, you will be sorely, sorely disappointed. :( This is hands-down the single most frustrating cartoon I've ever checked as far as missed opportunities for gagged damsels. >:( It has all the right ingredients to produce those kind of scenes: 2 cute female friends of James who are usually involved in his adventures, a different beautiful girl he meets from around the world in nearly every episode (who usually winds up as a DiD needing rescue), some attractive villainesses, and most importantly, a whopping 65 episodes. Unfortunately, this amazing potential for some great full-treatment scenes is almost entirely wasted by this cartoon. ;_; What is most agonizing is the fact that there are many gagged male scenes though, so it's not as if this show had an aversion to using the cloth, just not on the gender we want. :S

That being said, for the DiDs there are 2 hand-gags and 1 (very brief) gag scene, but that is all I could find. Here are the caps and some brief descriptions for those:

Ep 2 "Earth Cracker" - A girl named Lotta Dinaro is hand-gagged by Oddjob (look what they did to that poor bastard! :lol:) and taken inside a tank. Later on she's tied to a chair and zapped with some sort of ray device.
Image

Ep 8 "Location: Danger" - A girl named Anna Genue is kidnapped by villainess Felony O'Toole and hand-gagged while trying to call to James from a car window.
Image

Ep 53 "Sherlock IQ" - Some girl (not sure of her name) James meets in London is caught by Baron von Skarin and his goons. James and IQ are walking through some underground tunnel area a bit later and find her tied to a pillar and OTM gagged. This scene literally lasts only about 2 seconds and 2 shots of her. :( This is the much better one although it's one of those immediate gag-removal types.
Image

These are the English episode titles and #'s which I got from here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Ja ... ._episodes" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
The "Sherlock IQ" one is actually #52 in the German version if you're downloading the torrent, but the other two match-up.

Alright, now for the good news! For those of you non gag-snobs out there, this show is absolutely loaded with tie-up scenes and other forms of DiD that don't involve gags. It seems like there is some form of DiD in nearly every episode. You will find lots of tie-up scenes in it along with other more minor scenes like grabbings, carries, lock-ups, etc. So if these kinds of scenes interest you then you will want to download the torrent because this show is chock-a-block full of DiD scenes. :)

I didn't bother to cap these other scenes because there are so many of them it would take a full day just to do them all, but if anyone else wants to cap them be my guest. If you can get past the lack of gags I guarantee you won't be disappointed with this cartoon. ;)

Yeah I checked some of the episodes some time ago and I thought it would be for no real interest on here if they are just tie ups. I personally enjoy them a lot if the ropes are drawn well and if there are good shots of them. In my opinion a lot of these tie up scenes were really well done in this case so I was not disapointed as you are. But I can imagine how frustrating it is if you really want to have a gag on the damsel, I wonder if there are all episodes on youtube because when I checked them back in the days there were maybe like 30 or so.

Well even someone like me who isn't very much into tie-up only scenes has to recognize that this show is excellent in that department. :) There are many great-looking DiDs bound and sometimes there is pretty good ropework shown too. I just find myself wishing a few of them would have gotten a gag to go along with the roping. One thing that might bug some of you about the tie-up scenes though is that James is involved in a lot of them, so it isn't always just the damsel, just to warn you.

I also found it a let-down that this series didn't make better use of James' two female friends as DiD material. Tracy (the cute, short-haired brunette) does get a few tie-ups, but I felt they could have done so much more with her as far as being kidnap bait. She really wasn't used in that way at all as far as I could see. Her blonde, glasses-wearing friend Phoebe (kinda like Velma) could have been good kidnap bait too, but she barely gets anything.

My biggest disappointment though was episode 12 "Pompeii and Circumstance," where James meets this extremely cute, pony-tailed brunette wearing a pink shirt and overalls. She looks like your perfect "girl-next-door" type that so many of us love to see get kidnapped and b&g. :D She does get captured in the episode in a quick grab & carry scene, then put in the villain's car. But she's not even tied up! Just kept in the villain's car. So lame! That one in particular just made me want to cry at the missed opportunity. ;_;

I know what you mean. Sometimes you watch an episode of a show and you are introduced to a really nice looking potencial damsel and you wish to see her bound and gagged, then she gets kidnapped and you cross your fingers for some good DID action, just to see her beeing locked up or even worse just standing next to the villain while he explains his evil plan. So lame...

Exactly. And since I talked up this girl so much it's only fair that I show her to you guys:

Pretty cute huh? Just wish her DiD scene didn't suck so bad. ;_;

On a side note, this girl really reminded me of my artist friend Vince Wyler's character Betty Jo Carlson, from his original webcomic, The Unthinkable Hybrid. Betty Jo is that same type of sweet and helpless "girl-next-door" gal and I'm pretty sure Vince has even put her in the same type of outfit before. Of course, Betty Jo is blonde and has bigger curves though. :D

Yeah, if you like what you see here you should definitely download the torrent of the whole series because like I said, it's loaded with more DiD scenes.

Oh, and here's a fun fact I forgot to mention before: I don't know if anybody noticed or not, but if the animation style in this cartoon looks familiar to you guys, it's not by accident. This 'toon was actually produced by Murakami-Wolf-Swenson, the same company that made the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series. :) I find that the animation looks really similar to the Turtles eps from the CBS years, which was from season 4 on. There's good reason too, as James Bond Jr. aired in I think '91-92, so it was ran concurrently with Turtles for awhile. Probably some of the same animators actually worked on both shows.

Great ones, as I already mentioned old series are still gold mines :)

Also this show reminds me of Totally Spies, where every episode has a DID scene

Well I checked the whole series on youtube and I managed to find some other DID scenes that include tie-ups, death traps, gas scenes, cage/lock ups, kidnappings, etc.

Also I don't like to post what others already did before me but in some episodes the damsel had other DID scenes than those previously posted of her.

We can say two things about this series:
1. all the damsels from this series were hot
2. James sometimes got a bonus from the rescued damsels :) and he liked it

Thanks for the update, this show is indeed a good source. Imagine there would be less CID scenes and more gags. We would probably call it one of the best series...
