Anime Sightings Old and New - Teknoman
This one's obscure even for me: Teknoman, the English-language version of Tekkaman Blade. In the second half of episode #29, the members of a rampaging biker gang, who don't seem to mind that the Earth is being reverse-terraformed by aliens, kidnap a young lady teacher. With her arms behind her she's roped to a vertical column at chest and ankles.

By vertical column you mean a tank cannon. It is episode 30 in Tekkaman Blade (Teknoman cut removed six episodes for no good reason). Also, a Tatsunoko flagship franchise obscure? Come now!
Then again I am from /m/ so my perception of obscure is probably warped.

Her name is Sophia and before anyone asks those are flat shoes. Stitching was annoying since it was a side to side bit like with The Devil Lady.
Why does this reminds me of OMAC's premier issue?

5 BILLION YEN. WITH A FUCKING KATANA.

I waited until completing the series before posting, in case there was another scene to report. When I did start to compose the message, I thought I remembered that she was tied to a cannon barrel, but my immediate reaction was, "Wait a minute - that barrel was wider than she was. I can't be recalling the details correctly."By vertical column you mean a tank cannon.
I suppose that a biker gang having a tank with a cannon the size of a seige gun was no more improbable than anything else in the story.
I wondered about that. (I was aware of the discrepancy in series length, but I couldn't find any explanation about it, on line or in print.) The Wikipedia entry for Detective Conan lists both the US and original episode numbers, but the entry for Teknoman does not.It is episode 30 in Tekkaman Blade (Teknoman cut removed six episodes for no good reason).
I'm gratified to find somebody else that appreciates anime's "golden oldies." It seems like most fans have the attitude that if a show is dated before Y2K it's not worth their attention. Also, a Tatsunoko flagship franchise obscure? Come now!
