Reika is suspected of murder because she always happens to be the only one without an alibi and at the wrong place at the wrong time.

When she tries to prove that she's not the culprit by being locked inside a room with a witness (Miyuki), the real culprit ruins her alibi by putting her and Miyuki to sleep and unlocking the door she was supposed to be confined in and murders the next victim.

Out of options, she just says "tie me up if you have to".

I don't know what the paperback is called but it's the most recent one, in the first volume. Reika is untied the next time you see her in the following volume, because Kindaichi was able to deduce the case and determine the true culprit.
