it;s not just you...but they'll be replacing them all with the 60s era team...that will be the equivalent of rebooting Cyclops' brainlaura silverman wrote:Thanks bunnydelic! Btw, New Avengers #28 has a not-so-great, really really small (literally) manacle scene with Spider-Woman.
Oh, and is it just me or is the Phoenix force turning the X-Men into the biggest bunch of d!cks on the planet?
mutantoverlord wrote:this whole event is what you call total bullshit. not even the tie up scenes can make up for that fact. it is pretyt much a god damn repeat of that time where the super heroes took sides and beat each other's asses. except even more stupid.
i swear, comics these days are braindead. it is that they are running out of ideas and deny they are. cause ,realistically, as the good guys are kicking each other in the nuts, the bad guys would be reigning free and basically taking advantage of their ignorant war.
if they truly need better material, why don't they just reboot the entire comic, and i mean in a good way (flips off ultimate marvel), and change the events that happen. perhaps modernize it, like that did x-men evolution. by god, evolution's first set of episodes were much better than this retarded hero war. and marvel knew that their last war was crap, because to actual get an emotional reaction they needed to shock death captain america. and when you are forced into shock genocide, you FAIL.
good job marvel, you shit on the intelligence of your viewers. even dc has never traveled the dark path of a superhero war. when superheroes fight, it should only be because two individuals, or only a few more, have conflicting goals. and they got it right too with superman fake deathing to prove a point of killing people not being the only option and also amoral. and we are talking about someone as powerful as superman here. by all means, he alone could butcher every war criminal, terrorist, and dictator he comes across, yet chooses not to. for he fears himself, fears falling into darkness, and realizes that he must show restraint; one of the few things i like about the overpowered brute of fame.
turnign to marvel, who turns what could be itneresting and engaging character flaws into down right hypocrisy. fucking hypocrisy. they are making all of the drama, all of the conflict, and all of the pain the xmen went through amount to nothing. and spidey making a deal with the devil................
smashes marvel in the gonads with cyclops's thick head.
at least wovlerine is still badass.
n/p I haven't hated it either, I think it's the best crossover Marvel has done since Civil War. My only problem is that I just get the feeling that the intention is that we don't know who is in the right, and everything is up in the air, which I think only a lunatic would thinklaura silverman wrote:Thanks for the scenes, bunnydelic!
And sorry, I didn't mean to get everyone riled up. It's just that Cyclops sanctimonious attitude is really getting on my nerves. I know its a story about the corrupting influence of power, I get that, but that doesn't mean that the X-Men have to act like total a-holes. I mean, say what you will about Norman Osborn, but he always seemed like an pretty nice evil oppressor to be working for. (That is, when he wasn't having one of his freak-outs in some locked closet somewhere) He was always like "What can I do for YOU?" and "Here, let me help you. We need you looking and feeling your best."
As for AvX, overall, I'm not hating it just finding it disappointingly underwhelming. Where I am enjoying it though is in the academy titles, Avengers Academy and Wolverine and the X-Men. I don't care nearly as much whether the Phoenix incinerates the Earth as I do about whether Laura and the other kids can save Justin's Sentinel! And the Warbird story in the latest WATXM was extremely touching and well-done. Gage and Aaron have provided the emotional resonance in those titles sorely lacking in the rest of the series.
(Apologies for posting all this here, prob should have started a new topic but just had to vent!)
Cyke doesn't know Emma and Namor are cheating on him either XDSuicide wrote:Cyke probably doesn't know these things are going down especially given the Emma vs. Scott covers from later issues.
Oh no I don't think that at all. I just think the events have had excellent build up to these current events. Neither of the "Big Two" have this amount of foresight. But the things that have been happening to the X-men to this point since M-Day make their decisions more well rounded in their own minds. It's clear that they fear for their existence, and now have the means to fix it. Of course it will all end very badly for Utopia because that's all the Phoenix brings. Bad shit! XDAlthough I'll say I don't buy Marvel's statement that this is the culmination of everything since Avengers Disassembled...Siege was supposed to be that originally, I think this works well as a cap, but the idea they had this, or even something like this, in mind all the time gives them too much credit I think.
Suicide wrote:It's just a constant with all comics now-a-days. Marvel has Hero vs. Hero events and DC has reboots. Sometimes these things turn out for the better and sometimes not. I personally am enjoying AvX because the reasons behind the event have been building up in the X-men books for years. Since before Messiah Complex. They didn't suddenly come to these decisions, they've been brewing since M-Day. This is the result of a race facing extinction coming in contact with unfathomable and often malevolent power.
In this case the Hero vs. Hero aspect of it has a lot more weight behind the motivations (much more so that the crap-tacular Civil War). And in the books Cyke is actually being the more reasonable than his fellow Phoenix possessed teammates. Opting to not harm anyone. The Danger scene with Spiderwoman seems more like Danger's call or Emma or Namor. Cyke probably doesn't know these things are going down especially given the Emma vs. Scott covers from later issues.
