Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft

Post by DrProton »

Season 1 had nothing and Season 2 has some (very lame IMHO) did.

Right at the start, Samantha tied hands behind to a chair https://www.wco.tv/tomb-raider-the-lege ... -good-deed

At 10:50, Samantha and Lara have their hands handcuffed behind them. No shots from behind of Lara, dammit... https://www.wco.tv/tomb-raider-the-lege ... de-iemanja

Plus two vine scenes but one is just a vine wrapped around Lara's arm and the other one involving a character whose name I can't quite remember right now, and they bost last next to little.

Man, what a wasted opportunity for DiD... wasn't hoping for a gag scene (though would have great as Lara's voice is REALLY sexy here), but c'mon.

Thanks for the info. It wouldn't call it a wasted chance, but it would have been amazing to have at least a good tie up. As far as I know, this series will not have another season. So that's it.

For real? I thought this show would have massive potential for DiD scenes.

The 2020's have to stop with all this "girl power" BS.

It's not even the "Girl power" trend at blame here because as it has been shown multiple times in the past badass female characters can and have been excellent targets for DiD. The main problem is that many shows with that kind of female main character tend to have her win over her enemies before she can get captured pretty much every time, and that's exactly the case here.

Like, The Wingfeather Saga has recently had a potentially great 2-parter full treatment for the mom of the main group... (Potentially because I haven't found any site to watch the episodes in full yet)

But to be fair, in the video games, Lara Croft gets more or less never tied up or so. An in most games she kinda works alone.
She always gets captured/knocked off at some point, and next she is seen locked up without weapons so that the player has a bit of a challenge. The "Lara wakes up in a cell without weapons" is a middle of the game classic, but is not a real DiD in the common sense.
And the characters is badass. Too badass to end up tied up and/or gagged IMHO.
So I never expected any kind of DiD scenes in the cartoon.
And btw, complaining about "girl power" about a character that is kinda the incarnation of "girl power" is quite...ironic to say the least.
My issue is rather that the cartoon character is anything but badass and girl-power-like: she is "vulnerable", "plagued by doubts", "unsure", and of course has "racial minority friends" which do not bring any value added. I wanted a badass Lara Croft. Instead I get a whining girl from a Benetton billboard.

Agreed. She kind of comes off more like an idiot in this show. I guess they want to her to be quirky or off beat because she's a rich girl tomboy but she really does just come off as socially dumb in a lot of normal situations.

I don't know if it's a bad thing to criticize a work for lack of DiD. Most mainstream media aren't targeted towards DiD enthusiasts. If you wanted something targeted towards DiD enthusiasts, there are games like Didnapper 2 or the various DiD stories from DeviantArt.

Nah, I get it. I just was expecting something a bit better on that side of things. Many great shows/movies have almost to no DiD because the setting/plot just isn't fit for it.

Oddlyvdidnt her comic series put her into perils? I swear remember her bound to a pillar and lwft as tide comes in in one issue.

She has peril in game though I mainly recall a monster making her a snack.
