Les Intrépides

Post by RevolverX »

This series is nostalgic for me. It was a great french series for youth, featuring a step sibling duo that host a pirate radio show and use it to help people. This leads to all manner of young adult ultra 1990's sleuthing, which of course gets the protagonists into trouble at times.

As far as I remember, there's nothing in the first season, but a number of scenes in season two, which is my focus in this post.

Season 2, Episode 3

In an episode focused on the girl in the pink jacket's "kidnapping", she ends up tied solo and then with a male character shortly after toward the emd of the episode.

Season 2, Episode 6

Julie, one of the leads, is initially bound to a chair and left alone. She wiggles free, only to trust the wrong person and end up getting tied again. Her step brother, Tom, arrives to help her escape a second time.

Season 2, Episode 8

Julie, Tom and another are caught by thieves. Minor scene, the three standing with their wrists tied behind their backs.

Season 2, Episode 19

I need to find this one in better quality! Julie and a female costar are caught near a lake. They are tied hand and foot. Tom arrives to "loosen" the knots, and gets the girls to distract the bad guys by yelling. They are then gagged onscreen. Tom rescues them, as Julie's knot loosening doesn't seem to work.

Season 2, Episode 22

This scene is a classic as it features the essential 1990's horse riding story with a bound equestrian girl. She becomes wise to a plot at her barn and ends up tied hand and foot inside a large horse trailer, her mouth cleave gagged with a brown scarf. This is another scene I need to find in better quality.

It is sadly not. The playlist I posted seems to be posting them gradually but that's my best lead so far.

I've made progress on my hunt for the rest of Season 2 of this classic show. It's very clear there's Russian interest in this show, as I noticed fan translations happening in my wanderings looking for the rest of the series. Lo and behold, there's a user that has all of it posted to VK Video, including the missing episodes.

That's the good news. The bad news is that the audio is horrible desynced due to the variable frame rates of these videos, and it's so mangled it's not easy to repair. In the hands of someone more capable, surely there's a way, but the quality isn't incredible either. You can find the collection here: https://vkvideo.ru/@otvajnye.

Season 2, Episode 19
This is an all-timer for me, though I get why most think it's lame. The actress with the curly blonde hair barely has a second of gag time, and is already pulling at it as she's being gagged onscreen for making noise as part of Tom and Julie's plan. But, remember, this show is for adolescents. This isn't Law and Order: Criminal Intent.

Plus, I consider it lucky that Tom fails to properly untie his step-sister, meaning she gets pissed at him when he returns to help her get ungagged and tied after. If you grew up watching this show, Jessica Barker (who plays the sister, Julie) was likely among your crushes. So seeing her get the only full treatment of the two sibs is a win. Here's a few more caps in better quality:

Fun fact - there's a guy that is kidnapped, by the villains of the episode, who are twins. He spends more time tied and gagged than the girls, and is the boyfriend of the curly haired girl. That's the angle. These twins are extracting WWII loot from the lake at a summer camp. Once they are stopped, the camp just kind of ... forgives them? It's insane. But great.

Season 2, Episode 21
A girl is chloroformed and kidnapped, later secured to a bed with cloth strips. This one lasts most of the episode. No gags, and for me .. not my speed. But to complete the season rundown, here it is. She is of course rescued by our protagonists.

Season 2, Episode 22
A few more grabs of this one too, since the 90's horse riding girl trope is always most welcome. Not only is she incredibly cute, the actress is now a real veterinarian! Her love of animals proven both in her on screen appearance and in her professional life. You gotta love it.

For the GID fans
Les Intrépids doesn't discriminate on the basis of gender, so if you like guys in bondage, the show has you covered. Thran, the man who helps the step siblings with their show and cases (how responsible) is tied and gagged twice. Once in episode 2, again in episode 23. A young man named Indiana is .. I *think* tied hands in front in episode 2 as well but it's dicey. Certainly the worst tie up job of the season.

Of course in the lake summer camp episode (episode 19), the plot revolves initially around a girl's boyfriend being kidnapped by evil twins. He gets the best full treatment of the season.

Of course, I'm not satisfied. I'll keep digging as the show aired on French TV in 2019, and at that time, you could find HD rips of the show. Those torrents are long dead, but I'm hopeful. I'll comb season one again too now that I have the full show available. There are lots of instances of the siblings being nabbed, just never tied up as far as I can tell.

As they say in the theme, on est toujours présents! I love the show and tie up scenes notwithstanding, I just want the HQ seasons bad for my own nostalgia. It sucks you can't just buy them along with other classics like The Adventures of Shirley Holmes.
