Ivanhoe

I don't know if this stuff is new or not. If not, count them as a reminder. I personally never heard about this show before and stumbled across the cartoon by accident. I didn't follow the plot, but I'll try to explain the show shortly. It's basically about a knight named Ivanhoe and his adventures in england. King Arthur is in prison in austria (I don't know and care why) and the court is ruled by a evil prince or something, who intrigues a lot to become king. Not a bad cartoon, but also nothing very special. There are 52 episodes in total and I found 3 DID scenes with two different damsels. One is a young Lady from the royal court named Rowena the other one is called Rebecca a young girls who looks like a boy a bit. But trust me she is female. Well lets talk about the scenes in little detail.

1. Rowana's scene
In episode 27 she gets kidnapped by vikings. For a brief moment you can see her bound and gagged as she gets carried by her kidnapper. Later she is ungagged unfortunately but still tied up. She is a really nice looking damsel in my opinion so it's a shame that it's her only scene. There could have been a lot more but she lives at the same court as the villains where they live as intriguers. The main villain tries to marry her several times, so there is no more DID action with her. Small but nice scene.

2. Rebecca
In episode 25 she gets tied up and gagged. Her hands are tied in front so it's not my favorite scene, but the moment she gets her gag from the villain is actually shown and it looks pretty nice. Most of the times our damsels get tied up and gagged off screen. So it's a nice little moment. They get safed by Ivanhoe pretty quickly.

Episode 48 is the best in my opinion. First she gets gets handgagged and a few moments later you can see her bound and gagged for a brief moment. She struggles a lot and it's pretty nice to watch. She gets not really much screentime, unfortunately. It's still a nice DID.

In a nutshell three little scenes are not bad, but skipping through the episodes there are a lot of situtation where the young girl rebecca geths caught, but they just look her in somewhere or they just don't do anything. What a shame. If we count everything together, there would have been a lot of more potential. Especially with Rowena who looks fantastic. But well, three scenes are better then nothing.
One little note at the end. Two episodes on the youtube channel where duplicates. So there is a small chance for other stuff. I forgot which they where and I will try to find it out again. Maybe there is a little more stuff for us.

Wow! I never knew there was a cartoon of Ivanhoe! Great work finding these scenes scarface!

Did anyone happen to notice how this series appears to be done by the same animation company that did Nighthood?
The characters are drawn in almost exactly the same style as that show.

The scenes are nice, but it's just a shame that there's something in each one of them that seems almost as if it was done to purposely annoy the crap out of us DiD fans. In the Rebecca scene from #25, it's the fact that her on-screen gagging is partially out-of-view due to her face being cut off at the bottom of the frame during the second half of the gagging process, so we can't really see the whole thing. In #27, it's the fact that Rowena is only shown b&g so briefly, and all-covered-up in that damn cloak besides. : ( And in the other Rebecca scene from #48, it's my ultimate pet-peeve that all-but-ruins it for me: a poorly drawn OTN that doesn't come down far enough on her chin to look like it would actually cover her mouth and gag her. The struggling scene is really nice, and her close-up would be too, except for that. Are we supposed to believe her mouth is really way up there on her face under the gag? It just looks silly because her mouth should be lower down her face and closer to her chin, yet where it should be, we see nothing. Absolutely hate it when this happens.

It would have been nice to see Rebecca and especially Rowena get some more or at least better gag scenes, but we'll have to take what we can get I guess.

Oh, and while we're on the subject of Ivanhoe DiDs, I might as well re-post this scan from some European Ivanhoe comic book that I've had in my collection for several years:



It's apparently Lady Rowena, and this was the only panel to the scene as I recall. I think gabknight was the one who originally shared it back on the old western civ board, if I'm not mistaken.
