Detective Bogey (cute worm girl OTM gagged and hand-gagged)

Post by somedude37 »

Well here's something I never thought I'd say: I like a worm-girl DiD. D: There, I said it! And I'm not ashamed! :P

Explanation:

I don't know if anybody else happened to find this yet, but thanks to that topic about The Three Bears cartoon and LingeriE posting the link to the Neptunofilms company's website, I stumbled across another scene from one of their cartoons. It's from that Detective Bogey cartoon of theirs about an anthropomorphic worm detective fighting crime in an all-bug city. Adorable stuff. :)

I was browsing their list of the different series they've done and when I looked at the Detective Bogey preview page here: http://www.neptunofilms.com/english/ser ... tve-bogey/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;, lo and behold, there was a video for a whole episode!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BhaW7KHR ... r_embedded" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Seeing that there was a cute, red-haired female worm girl on the video preview image, and the episode was named "Mansion of Terror II," well...I just had to check this one out, since my nose smelled a great DiD opportunity. :rolls:

And it did not dissappoint my expectations at all! Before the actual episode even starts, you see a brief clip in the opening credits of that worm girl strapped down to a bed and OTM gagged! When you get a b&g DiD right in the opening credits like that, well, you know it's a good sign! And the full scene from which that clip comes turns out to be in this episode as well! What happens is Kid (that's apparently the name of the worm girl, who's like a gumshoe-in-training under Bogey and probably also a love interest, from what I gather so far) wanders into a room in this "haunted" mansion and lays down in a bed and all of a sudden it turns into a trap! Metal bands come up and wrap around her body, pinning her to the bed, and a white strap-looking gag comes up and covers her mouth, which in subsequent shots just appears to be an ordinary OTM gag. Then a spiked ceiling starts lowering from the ceiling and the cute worm damsel mumbles and struggles for her life as her impending doom approaches! Of course, she is rescued by Bogey just in the nick of time, so no worries, Kid survives unscathed. :)

And that wasn't all I found! In the closing credits, there is a shot of Kid being hand-gagged by some bug villain too! This scene must be from a different episode, and who knows what might come after it? :rolls: I also noticed a shot of some other tied up bug people in the closing credits, but from what I could tell they all looked to be males.

I really think this show has a lot of potential for more DiD scenes with Kid, given the detective theme and the fact that there were 52 episodes. Also, there is
a sexy-looking blonde bee-lady shown a few times (once in a nurse's outfit btw :D) in the opening and closing credits and it appears that she might be a nightclub singer and another recurring character who's a love interest for Bogey. I really hope she has some DiD scrapes in this show too, and I wouldn't be surprised if she does. It would be great if she and Kid got a scene together! I doubt that though, since it appears that Kid doesn't like her too much, since she's probably a rival for Bogey's affection.

Has anyone seen this whole series anywhere? I've seen some pictures of the covers of DVDs for this show that were released in Europe, but I don't know if the whole series has ever been put on DVD. But at any rate, it doesn't seem like as much of a 'lost' cartoon as some, so I think if we look hard enough, we'll be able to get this one eventually. There are some episodes on Youtube and other video sites, but it doesn't look like many. Here's some to get us started anyway: http://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=det ... DRSC3#x0y0" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; I haven't checked any of these other episodes yet, besides the one I mentioned above. If anybody finds something good, please share!

Oh, and while we're talking about these Neptunofilms cartoons, there's one other one that looks like it could have some really strong DiD potential besides Detective Bogey and The Three Bears. That would be Bandolero, which was a 52-episode series and also has a separate movie:

http://www.neptunofilms.com/english/series/bandolero/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
http://www.neptunofilms.com/english/mov ... bandolero/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Looks like this is about a Zorro-esque Spanish hero, and there appear to be at least a couple hot chicks that would look great as DiDs. One has short, done-up black hair and looks like the senorita type who's probably Bandolero's love interest, while the other is a pretty redhead with shoulder-length hair and wearing a purple bandana, who might be Bandolero's sidekick. Does anybody know anything about this one? I haven't checked out the video of that episode on their page for the show yet (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pLhcoUQj ... r_embedded" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;), but maybe there could be something in that. This is another one I think we should try really hard to find because I could definitely see it having DiD scenes.

Excellent find! We'll have to search around and see if there are more eps available of Bogey

I was actually looking for Bandolero not too long ago (maybe a month) and found nothing but a few eps via youtube with no DiD showing. I'll try and do some more digging. eMule seems to be making a comeback after megauploads massive failure. I'll check there some more for both these shows.

(My GOD this dub is awful! XD)

Hey, man, I KNOW this cartoon! It was one of my favourites from my childhood! (It doesn't look like a great thing now that I see it again, but I was young, I didn't know a thing about animation back then :P). And I can assure you that it's plenty of DiD, not only for Kid, but the bee lady as well. And actually, they share the same scene together! Bogey is involved as well, but I hopey ou don't mind :P.

I really hope we can find more of it, I know you won't get dissapointed!

Yeah I was pretty delighted to find that the one episode the company showcases on their page actually had a gag scene and more. How often do you get that lucky? :D Hehe, the dub is pretty bad, but I actually kinda liked the theme song. Found it quite catchy!

I'll also see what I can do to help find more episodes of this and Bandolero. Both shows seem like they could have some real good payoffs if we do our due diligence to find them.

Yes yes yes! Thanks so much for confirming my suspicions about this show's DiD leanings! :) I figured as much from the fact that they put those DiD scenes in the opening and closing credits, but it's great to hear it confirmed from somebody who actually saw more episodes. I'm especially glad to hear that the bee-lady gets some DiD treatment as well! Do you remember if she had some gag scenes? Any more gags for Kid? Great to hear they actually do have a scene together too!

Oh, and as for the show itself, yeah, the animation doesn't look that great by today's standards, but I know I would've absolutely loved this show as a kid.
I was really into bugs and creepy crawly things back then, so this would've been right up my alley. :)

Cool stuff. I never heard about these shows before and I'm still impressed how much undiscovered material could exist in the depths of the internet, or maybe just vhs tapes which gather dust on someones attic lol. I once thought I know about every show, but I guess I'm far away from it. Hopefully. :P
Thanks for the info, but now the hard work begins. I doubt that we will find every single episode after megaupload died. A lot of cool stuff went down the shitter...

Actually, I'm sure that Kid took more than a gag scene herself, yes! Not pretty sure about Pandora, though (the bee-lady), and the only DiD I remember from her was the one she shared with Kid and Bogey as well.
Hey, now that I notice, I never new that Neptuno Films ever broadcasted their cartoons out of Spain. Cartoons unite people! Like DiD binds them... So to speak :D

Hey guys, couldn't wait to find more in this series, so I started watching some of those Youtube vids and found a tie-up scene already. It's not Kid or Pandora unfortunately, but In episode 5, at the very beginning, Bogey and his pals are in a movie theater watching some detective movie and the hero busts into some building where he rescues a chair-tied, pretty bug lady from some crooks. Here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kV2AZtUr ... ure=relmfu" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I skimmed through the rest of episode 5 and all of episode 6 too, which is a review/continuation of the story from 5. Unfortunately I didn't see anything more that was really of interest in those two episodes for either Kid or Pandora, who makes an appearance in #6. Feel free to double check me though.

But more importantly, from those videos I got the link to this blog page (http://detectivebogey.blogspot.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) that has links to more episodes at the top of the page. Unfortunately, the links were posted in 2009 and are all dead now it seems. ;_; However, there's a chance that these files could still be found floating around elsewhere on the net or on e-mule or some other FSP like that, so all hope is not lost. It appears that they have 9 episodes from the Spanish version, the first 6 plus 3 more that they don't know the numbers for. Thankfully, the links are all rapidshare except for 5 and 6 which were Megaupload, but those two are on Youtube as I just described. It's a start anyway!

Oh, and I also found that there's an old Detective Bogey PC game from 1997 in which you play as Bogey in a side-scrolling platformer style and the objective is to rescue Pandora, who's been captured by Dr. Sinister. :D Wonder if she might have any scenes shown in this game? Haven't found a place to download this for free yet but I'll keep looking.

Just found another tie-up, this time for Kid. In this episode, called "Bajo el sol ardiente" (not numbered so # is unknown), Kid and Bogey are seen tied up (separatley) and sitting back-to-back in the back of a van midway through the first half of the episode. They are taken out into a desert and rudely kicked out of the van by one of the bad bugs who captured them, and left to perish in the hot sun. A bit later, they're rescued by a nomad guy. All the DiD action occurs
in the first half of the episode, which can be seen here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0uOWM1sX ... ure=relmfu" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Oddly enough, we see Bogey get knocked out with a club before the tie-up scene, but I didn't see any sign of Kid's capture being shown. Guess it's just one of those scenes where you have to use your imagination.

I've found that there are several more episodes on Youtube, they're just scattered around among a bunch of different users so it takes a bit more digging.
See what you guys can find and I'll do the same.

Thanks for the update. I searched a little bit and I think these are all scenes available. There are 2 or 3 more episodes, but without any DID action. Maybe the show can be found in different languages. But besides english, german and spanish I don't know how this show is called.

Thanks for checking those other episodes scarface. I'm sure those are probably the same few I saw that I hadn't checked yet.

From what I've learned so far, there were a couple volumes of dvds released for this show in both Spain and Germany, but it sounds like all of them only had a few episodes. So it sounds like the whole series has never been released on dvd. However, I did happen upon a German Wikipedia page entry that said all 52 episodes of the show had been released there on VHS in 1999. I think this has to be bullcrap though, because it would be highly unusual for the complete series of a cartoon with so many episodes to be released on VHS tapes. VHS tapes of cartoons typically only had 2 episodes on them, so at that rate we'd be talking 26 tapes. I looked on the German version of Amazon.com and found listings for 8 different VHS volumes, but they all seem to have a running time of only 25 minutes, so...yeah, 1 episode per tape. :(

Oh, and I did find where you can download that Bogey PC game for free and tried playing it yesterday to see if there might be any DiD action. However, there's no opening or anything or any visible sign of Pandora that I can see. There might be a slight chance of an ending scene with her, but I highly, highly doubt it. It really feels like one of those games that will completely jip the player out of any sort of decent graphical ending and probably just give you some crappy text message like "Congratulations! You have saved Pandora!" >:( I was going to try to beat it yesterday and see if there was anything at the end, but...oh my freaking word is the gameplay tedious. It wouldn't be so terrible bad if not for two things: Bogey moves as slow as molasses and getting hit too many times by enemies sends you back to the starting point of each level, which is a giant pain-in-the-ass because it takes FOREVER for Bogey to traverse these levels at his anemic pace. Jumping is a little bit faster way to move him but that gets very tedious too. I kept getting game freezing glitches for some reason too which was incredibly irritating after it takes so much time to find all the clues and beat each level. Honestly, I don't know if I have the patience to beat this thing. :\ If anyone else wants to try their hand at it, you can dl the game for free from here:

Hey, somedude, just wanted to say thanks to you for taking this one back from my childhood memories! I just tried to remember about other Neptuno Film productions, and I must say that this one was definitely the best one they ever did. If you can forgive the lame animation and the abuse of recycling, the characters were nice and charismatic, specially Bogey. Most of Neptuno's main characters were the stereotipic naive avenging pacific guys, and also most of them were victims of misunderstanding, like an awful version of Ugly Duckling they did (I cannot believe I followed that one once! x_x). Bogey, however, works more like a clumsy nervy guy whose bad luck is as big as his mouth. Most of his actions are misunderstood as well, and he's supposed to be the hero as he confronts Dr. Siniestro most of the time, but the fact that you must laugh at all the foolishness behind some of his comments or actions makes a difference.

Not sure if I explained myself :P thanks again!

Sure, glad I could help reunite you with Bogey after all these years! It is a great cartoon and I know I would have loved it as a kid too, if it had ever been broadcast here in the U.S. I'm pretty sure it wasn't though, unfortunately. I do think Bogey makes a great hero. Like you said, he's a little clumsy and bumbling at times, but that's what makes him funny and gives him his appeal. He kinda reminds me of Inspector Gadget in that regard, though I think Gadget was even more oblivious. :lol:

Haven't found any more Bogey episodes yet, but I did find where we can get Bandolero! :D More on that here: viewtopic.php?f=20&t=27&p=4574#p4574" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Good! We'll have to check them out. I just saw a few eps from that one and no DiD so far. The cartoon was okay, except for the horrible voices they put to Bandolero and his crew. The voice actors tried to imitate Andalusian Spanish accent, but they sound terribly false (I'm Andalusian myself, so I know what I'm talking about :P). Not sure if you U.S. guys feel the same when, for example, somebody out of Kentucky tries to imitate their way of speaking.

Well guys, I was browsing Youtube yesterday and decided to check and see if any more episodes of Detective Bogey had shown up there. To my pleasant surprise, there have been several new episodes added that were not there just a few months ago when we first learned about the DiD in this cartoon!

I think I've checked all the eps available so far and while I didn't find anything outstanding in the new episodes that have been added to this point, I did find a couple little cute scenes:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hwFGz0xLcCE" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Tjq3G3j2u0" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

In this episode, "Un tesoro en la cloaca," we find the actual scene of Kid being hand-gagged by that grey bug that can be seen in the end credits. So that little mystery is solved. :) Unfortunately, she does not even get tied up by the baddies. :(
She's only put into kind of a pit in the sewer which they flood with water. Bogey saves her in the nick of course. ;)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_G7CNtQFo4s" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xzt2TAeto68" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
or
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QvfdRVFSSgI" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

In "La isla de la Juventud eterna," Bogey, Pandora, and Kid all get hijacked by the baddies while on a ship and they are soon seen tied up with ropes around their arms and waists in a few brief scenes as they laugh at the baddies. Sadly, no gags involved, but hey, at least we finally get to see Pandora in some ropes! :D

I highly recommend that you guys keep checking Youtube now and then for more episodes of this cartoon and I will do the same. Over several months, we did get more episodes added, some even on the official Neptuno Films channel, so it's
entirely possible that more will show up sooner or later. Remember, there are 52 episodes in this series altoghether, so there's still a lot more to go and many more chances for DiD!
