Le Maltais is a 3-issues french comic from the early 90s, about a kinda scammer, born in Malta.
Story is set in the 50's, and fun fact, the main character owns a boat which is a 100%-copy of the Calypso, Cousteau's ship. It's supposed to be funny, but isn't. It's quite incredible that they managed to make 3 issues.
The first scene shows the maltese kidnapping his own associates to convince them to re-consider their contract's terms (issue1).
Second scene involves a woman he also wants to "convince" partipicating in his scam (issue2).
Third scene scene shows his teammate whom he sent to a village where he knows people are looking for a sacrificial victim, so that she can serve as a "distraction" while he steals a trasure (issue 2)
Last scene from issue 3 shows the same teammate being threatened, in order to convince the Maltese to help some baddies (in reality, he wants to participate so he can scam them, but plays along so that it does not appear too suspicious)
