Sailor Moon Crystal
In the very first episode, Sailor Moon's friend's mom is replaced by a shape shifting monster. The real mother is briefly shown bound and gagged in the basement.

heh, already off to a great start, lovely little find
Re: Sailor Moon Crystal
They said they were going to be more faithful to the manga and that scene happened in the manga.
Catwoman: Think you can handle me?
Batman: I've got handcuffs.
Catwoman: Ooh.

So was Mercuries AWESOME vine scene in the manga? It would really stink if that wasn't in this too

I read the entire manga series.Truthseeker wrote:So was Mercuries AWESOME vine scene in the manga? It would really stink if that wasn't in this too
The anime isn't very faithful to the manga.
There are even personality changes like how Rei was originally stoic and serious but more childish in the anime.
The manga version moved a lot faster, where a new scout is introduced on the next chapter.
The anime had more filler in between and Sailor Moon was solo a lot longer before she meets up with Mercury and eventually the rest of the team.
The Mercury vines scene is a filler for the anime.
If this current anime series is really trying to be more faithful to the manga, then it will not have as much tie-ups as in the previous animated series.
Re: Sailor Moon Crystal
great start indeed. My only regret is that they didn't show how she was captured or released and that there were no close-ups. Fingers crossed for the next eps

Re: Sailor Moon Crystal
Which is ironic given the original anime skipped this scene and didn't even have a full treatment until the last season, which itself was filler that wasn't in the manga.Daikinbakuju wrote: If this current anime series is really trying to be more faithful to the manga, then it will not have as much tie-ups as in the previous animated series.

Re: Sailor Moon Crystal
That is a good question. I've never read the manga either, so all my knowledge of sailor moon, and her ties to peril and such are based upon the old anime. can we expect more bondage or peril in the new series? How is the manga with peril? is there a lot of it, or no where near as much as in the old anime.

The episodes are also streaming on VIZ.Com (http://www.viz.com/sailor-moon-crystal/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;). It's the feed HULU rebroadcasts.
I do not recall any other scenes in the first series of the Sailor Moon manga until the end and the battle at D Point, but given the state of my memory, don't take that as absolute. And I'm not even sure at the moment whether the "Mercury vine scene" was from the manga or a first anime series addition. I'd have to dig out my copies and check.
